Matt Vekakis is an MFA student in poetry at the University of Florida. Their recent work has appeared in Prairie Schooner, Southern Humanities Review, Atlanta Review, Welter, and Appalachian Review. In 2022, he was named a finalist of Great River Review’s Pink Poetry Prize. Beyond his MFA, Matt hopes to pursue a PhD in English. His research interests are in Critical Prison Studies, postcoloniality, 20th and 21st century American poetry and prosody.
