Adaobi Ejechi is a postcolonial scholar with a keen focus on environmental literature, literary histories, trauma narratives, and gender studies. She holds a master’s degree in English and a Postgraduate Diploma in English from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English and Literary Studies from Benson Idahosa University. Her research examines the intricate intersections of environmental crises, urban displacement, and the psychological impacts of postcolonialism within African contexts.
Adaobi has presented her work at prestigious academic forums, including the Afrextract Conference on Environmental Histories in the Niger Delta, where she delivered a paper titled “Unveiling the Narratives of Environmental Crisis and Displacement in Chiemeka Garrik’s Tomorrow Died Yesterday and Kaine Agary’s Yellow Yellow.” She has contributed to the University of Port Harcourt Okwo Journal of English Studies with her publications, “Deconstructing Colonial Masculinity in Tsitsi Dangarembga’s Nervous Conditions” and “Interrogating Hegemonic Masculinity in Selected African Fictions.” She also co-authored “Cultural Memory and Place in Obari Gomba’s Pearls of the Mangrove.”
Driven by a broader interest in African-centered ecocriticism and women’s participation in the global call for environmental justice, Adaobi’s scholarly endeavors also extend to the Afropolitan experience and African Diaspora literature, where she interrogates themes of migration, identity, and cultural memory. In addition to her academic work, Adaobi is an active creative writer, currently working on her short series, Of Siblings and Sacrifice, published on Wattpad, as well as a forthcoming novel on Amazon KDP. With her academic background, including her experience pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Port Harcourt, Adaobi remains committed to postcolonial studies, focusing on environmental justice, urbanization, and their socio-cultural impacts on African societies.
