Originally from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, her research is deeply influenced by the environmental and socio-political challenges faced by her community, particularly issues of environmental degradation, resource extractions, displacement, and migration. Adaobi’s work critically examines how these global crises are represented in contemporary African literature, exploring the intersections of colonial legacies, environmental justice, and humanitarian concerns.

Her academic focus includes the study of displaced populations, the impact of climate change, and the social, political, and economic dimensions of refugee experiences in African contexts. She has published research on the intersections of environmental crises and forced migration in African literature, with contributions in the University of Port Harcourt Okwo Journal of English Studies. Additionally, Adaobi has presented at international conferences, such as the Afrextract Conference, where she analyzed the role of literature in shaping discourse around displacement and environmental justice. Through her teaching and research, she aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexities of humanitarian issues, using literature as a tool for social change and advocacy.
