Her laptop is covered in stickers, and behind her are rows of books on a library bookshelf.Debakanya Haldar (she/her) is a PhD candidate in the English Department and a Rothman Fellow (2025-2026) at CHPS, UF. She is currently working on her dissertation, a comparative study of the literary and visual texts of New York City and Kolkata in the mid-20th century. Her digital project was selected for the MLA Public Humanities Incubator Program in 2023. Her research interests include Modernism, urban studies, visual culture, and gender & sexuality. Debakanya served as the EGO President for 2022-2023. As a primary instructor, she has taught courses on American Literature, English Literature, Film Analysis, Modernism, and Ghosts! She has previously worked and published on Dalit feminism and has an essay forthcoming in My Impossible Soul: The Metamodern Music of Sufjan Stevens.
