Iesha Ismail

Iesha’s research interests include the environmental humanities and motherhood studies within contemporary American literature. She currently focuses on Black and Indigenous mothers’ perspectives of the climate crisis, with the goal of exploring how motherhood stories can radically transform approaches to social and environmental injustices.

Iesha is a Double Gator, completing her BA in English and Women’s studies before joining UF’s English PhD program. She currently teaches composition courses in the UWP.

Beyond academia, Iesha has worked extensively in the digital publishing industry, with a focus on digital content creation and management. Leveraging her publishing experience, she aims to integrate her studies into creating transformative, public-facing resources on social-climate injustice.
