Matt Knudsen

He is pointing off camera.Matt Knudsen was born in Seattle, Washington, and received a BA in Film Production at Loyola Marymount University in 2005. After graduation, he spent time as a writer, director, cinematographer, and editor on short films, music videos, docs, and commercials, working in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. In 2012 he began the Graduate Directing Program at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television. He received his MFA in 2017 after directing his first feature film and submitting it as his thesis project. The film played festivals in the US and Europe before being picked up for international distribution. In 2019 he completed his MA at Columbia University. He is on track to complete his Ph.D. at the University of Florida in 2025. He has taught classes in film production, editing, cinematography, film history, film analysis, and English. He is currently working on multiple text-based and video-based essay projects in the field of postclassical narratology.
