Mykal Israel Mason

MFA Student

Israel stands in front of a tree and looks straight into the camera. She is wearing a green and pink plaid dress and a gold necklace. Her hair is dark, curly, and voluminous, stopping at her shoulders.

Mykal Israel Mason earned a BS in psychology at UAB with minors in Spanish and creative writing, and is now pursuing an MFA in poetry here at UF. She spends her free time writing, crafting, and playing guitar. Her poetry reflects a deep empathy for the human experience, blending introspection with a commitment to understanding the complexities of human behavior. Nature is also a recurring theme in her work. She has been published in Aura Literary Review, and continues to explore the intersection of art, language, and lived experience in her writing.
