Shuya Su (she/her) is a second-year English PhD student with a focus in Children’s Literature at the University of Florida. Previously, she earned an International Masters’ degree in Children’s Literature, Media and Culture (CMLC) from the University of Glasgow, and a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Nanjing University. Shuya loves reading and reviewing international Young Adult (YA) fiction about challenging topics, such as violence, death, and grief.
Her book reviews have been published on ChLA International Committee’s blog, Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures, as well as some other journals in English or Chinese. In 2024, she published an encyclopedia entry titled “Death in Children’s Literature” for the Literary Encyclopedia. Her journal article on sports YA fiction is expected to be out in the world next summer if everything goes as planned; but who knows?
