Marsha Bryant and recent PhD Emily McCann have essays in the collection The Many Facades of Edith Sitewell, ed. Allan Perro and Gyllian Phillips (University Press of Florida, May 2017). Bryant’s essay is “Sitwell beyond the Semiotic” with a new Coda. McCann’s is “Gothic Futures: Edith Sitwell and Women’s Labor in Interwar British Modernism.”

Roger Maioli’s first book Empiricism and the Early Theory of the Novel, is finally available from Palgrave. He has also given a talk on his second project, “David Hume and the Specter of Relativism,” at the 2017 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
Ange Mlinko has a piece on the deaths of poets in the April 20, 2017 issue of the London Review of Books, and three poems in the April issue of Poetry magazine

Emerson Richards, currently a PhD candidate at Indiana University in the Department of Comparative Literature, has been selected for the inaugural exchange program between the Lilly Library and the John Rylands Research Institute. She will spend Fall 2017 as a Visiting Research Fellow at Manchester University and has received the James Marrow Travel Fund for research at the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge. Emerson has also been elected as a member of the Graduate Student Council of the Medieval Academy of America. This summer she has completed three of the five courses required for a certificate in the History of the Manuscript from Rare Book School.

Anastasia Kozak (PhD, 2017) participated in the NEH Summer Institute “What is Gained in Translation: learning how to read translated texts” (June 4–24, 2017) at the Institute for Applied Linguistics at Kent State University.

Hai-Dang Phan, MFA 2013 in poetry and Assistant Professor of English at Grinnell College, has been awarded a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Two poems by Paulette Guerin appear in the Winter 2017 issue of 2River View with audio recording. Paulette has three forthcoming poems in The Timberline Review and another of her poems was recently accepted at The Tishman Review.
